Going into work at the weekend to strip the xe engine out of the car.
Im not a total dumbball but any advise on what will need to be kept before the shell goes to the car park in the sky could save a lot of
hassle.
e.g. What about the oil cooler is that needed.
You need to take of anything that's atatched to the engine.
soow a oil cooler is defintly a part that you need to keep.
if its FWD and you make RWD you don't need the Gearbox, but stay whit the clutch parts (i guess)...
the rest you should keep. also keep all the hoses
don't forget that you also need all the wireing.
soow don't cut it off. also make foto's they will help you tell where something was situated when you started.

If its attached to the shell, remove it, stack it and when your done any left over parts after the build can go back in the car (thrown in the
passenger area, not bolted back on) and then send the shell on its way rejoicing.
This isn't so practical if space is at a premium, so double cheek that you've go all you will need before scrapping shell.
What about the ignition barrel and loom or will that need to come from the sierra.
can the gte steering wheel be fitted in any way.
Best bet is to have both looms and then make a frankenstien of the 2 if needs be.
If the sierra items will do then you shouldn't need ignition barrel or any steering stuff, but personally I would have them out any way. Then
again I have got shed loads of room for dumping shells and parts.

Space is not a prob owning my own garage but having someone taking the shell away on monday for the running gear leaves me two days to get everything
i need.
Is the electric fan and elec fuel pump going to be useable.
what about wiring loom clips or are they better new

Take the fuel pump just incase!
People do use the digidash, make sure you get the loom, plugs and sender out of gearbox aswell !!!!!!!!!!

Next time i'm round Billy's i'll whip the rear tunnel cover off and take some pics to post.
I should of added it depends what transducer you have as well as they require a different amount of pulses (magnets).

Dash test
18 magnets on the prop work fine calibration wise, if you are using 205/50/15 tyres, and a 3.6 diff. I worked this out to be replicating the amount of
pulses the dash would see if it were fitted to the donor car for a set distance - and it worked...
Well stu being a locoster at heart i am hoping there will be room for the standard injection and steering columb with my +4 chassis if not i think
megasquirt wins it running with gsxr throttle bodys.
Is the Astra transducer not suitable as you mention everyone but and its the only one i've got

The other obvious questions i can think of are what magnets have you used and are they stuck on with epoxy.

Astra transducer is fine, but will take a little more thought on how to mount near magnets.
The magnets themselves are little 5mm dia things that can be bought form places such as RS components, which are araldited on.
They havent moved yet, and have been tested to an indicated 136mph. Off road of course...
In fact, i changed the diff earlier this year. The magnets are glued onto the diff flange. i thought they would move fairly easily, but broke most of
them...
