i just aquired a 2.8 injected capri witch is my donor car. I was wondering if the std chassis with withstand the weight and the tork of the heavy brute

Theres a few "exotic" builds in here that have way in excess of the horses produced by the 2.8 in their trusty steeds. A decko through the photo file should throw out some interesting examples. A polite u2u asking details of their chassis mods might then help, then its up to u to pick the best option for your needs, but hey thats the fun of it all. U using the capri axle? or going the IRS or de dion route?
Shug.

im going to use the capri axle because it has a limited slip diff what i thought would be cool

Only some 2.8i have the LSD

The v6 engines make very good boat anchors almost twice as good as a pinto.

do cymtrix's mods before upgrading the tubing, then do that if you feel it necessary.

if i were you i would not use the 2.8inj engine ( which is mechanical fuel injection ) and find a 2.9 granada and rob the engine from that.

the blocks are the same, but will be unleaded ( the 2.8 engine will prob not be unleaded ) and will be EFi - which will produce more power.

The old capri 2.8inj engine never really produced the 160bhp ford claimed, where as the 2.9efi 150 is actually a true figure - i know, i have had both engines in my capri.

the 2.9 is so much easier to wire in and setup than the 2.8 too, and if you decide to go down that route, i can help you with the wireing ( which by the way, only required 2 wires to solder up to get the beast running with the stock EFi loom )
