I'm appologise for this as Sierra questions get asked all the time but i don't want to buy the wrong thing :p
I'm looking at building at mac#1/mnr/or similar next year but am looking at getting my donor as a run about for the time being.
I've spotted a '91 2.0 GLX near me with 78K miles on it and mot until august '06 going for £300 (i'm sure i could get it for much
less). But am i right in thinking this will be a CVH engine? or is still worth my time or should i look for an older pinto?
i'd quite like an xe or zetec but i'm not sure what my budget will be so trying to make things cheap as possible.
thanks
No this will be the 2.0 DOHC engine there is no 2.0 CVH
2.0 DOHC is not a great power plant and best avoided IMHO

Ok thanks for the quick reply. i'll keep looking.
is 85 the last pinto year?
nope, ran through til 88 and some over lap, even as far as 90/91 ive heard. The easiest way to tell (on ebay at least) is the cc, as pintos are 1993 and DOHCs are 1998
There are some builders here (including myself) that actually quite like the DOHC. It is a bigger and taller unit than the pinto but in standard form
offers more power and torque, also despite what many people think, it will fit in a 7-esque car.
Having said all this the pinto has much better and cheaper tuning potential and fits much better. If you can get a pinto Sierra your build will be a
little easier.
thanks for all the comments.
one last question, do the DOHC engines still come with the type 9 gear box?

Re the gearbox question, all the ones I've seen have had MT75 boxes.

thanks, i'll keep looking for a pinto then
