as the title, what diff will a 1992 2.0 injection estate sierra have? It's obviously got rear discs and lobro shafts, does this mean it has a 7" non-lsd or did some 6.5" diffs have lobro flanges?

I thought that estates had higher numbered diffs.

Makes no distinction for being an estate at 2.0.

As usual has no other useful information.

So Nat, does that mean you've got a spare 3.62. Getting seriously tempted wtih de-dion (esp after your offer) so need to cost out / size up rear diffs / half shafts / brakes.

I had a look at a late sierra a while back, and it was drum braked, with push in shafts, yet still had a 7.5" diff. The only way to really tell is to have a look under the car. There are lists around, but none of them appear to be definative.

This has what you need to decode the rear axle info on the vin plate and the alloy tag on the back of the diff

The LSD was an (expencive) option on most models (but standard on 4x4's), and 7.5" is normaly only on big engined (non 4x4) models (e.g. cosworth, Granada 24v 2.9 V6)
