Having sorted out the driving position I need to find approx. 10-15mm extra in the steering column length. I'm going to buy a quick rack prob. from Rally Des. Does anyone know if they do a long stem pinion version - if not who does and what's the difference in mm between short and long stems? Cheers, Pewe
Mark, yep will do Mon. just trying to get my head around it. My local welding shop is ace at extending shafts etc. but it seems daft to add bits in if the new rack will sort the prob out. Just notciced RD do a 400mm column shaft so that might be the answer if they don't do a long pinion rack. Cheers, Pewe.
pewe i got my escort quick rack from rally design and it came with a short extension that goes into the UJ. i was talking to simon at DAX the other
day and he reckons that the rack can come with a longer extension on it. like calvin said pick up the old 'dog and bone' and give them a
buzz, they always give excellent service so they should be able to help you out

Im using a MkII Escort rack with a extension from either a cortina, that has a multi plined joint on a flexi on one end, which fits the rack splines a treat and then has a 3 inch shaft and a hex coupling at the other end. Then i have Astra Column and made an extension inbetween that and the Cortina part.
