i have found an abandoned cortina, i have already removed the uprights. the engine is a 1600 which is no use to me because the insurance will be too much. i am hopefully going to use a 1100 crossflow, will the gearbox be suitable for a locost?

if anyone wants the engine or rear axle let me know

Thanks, Paul

i have already got an escort rear axle, i want to keep it as close to the book as posible to keep it simple. thats why the plan is to have no windscreen so there is no need for wipers or a heater.

Probably best to get the gearbox off whatever donates the engine, that way you know it fit! Unless, that is, you're planning to take it from a FWD. Couldn't comment on what engines would fit the Cortina box though.

get an insurance quote first - at least phone and get some idea.

I have heard that a blade engine can be cheaper sometimes as the ins company sees it as smaller!

In which case summat like a 600cc engine from a bike might be even cheaper than that or a 1100cc engine.

an 1100 xflow is summat like 55hp and a bike is 100+

I might be talking bollox but you just might want to check your options.
