1994 Ford Taurus SHO

Hello,

I have been looking for a good donor car for several weeks now, and have come accross this idea. Would a 1994 Ford Taurus SHO be a good donor car? It runs a 3.0 Liter, 220 hp Yamaha V6, linked to a 5-speed manual. The only problems that I could foresee with this car is the fact that it is Front wheel drive naturally, is there any way you could fix this so that the final locost, ends up being rear wheel drive? Another problem might be the engine, Would this be to large to fit into the engine bay? But then again I could always make the bay bigger to fit the engine, correct?
Anyways, would this car be a good donor car?

Looks quite tall, What is it is from sump to the top?

I have been looking for the length from sump to top, I can't find it. Here is a picture of the block, this isn't the same one, this one is in bad shape.

I was also wondering as to what was possible with the drive train on this car. Since it is front wheel drive, would I be able to make my locost rear wheel drive with the stock transmission?

i think i'm right in saying that this engine is much the same as what we call the Duratec V6 cept we have it in 2.5 litre form.
I looked into it but couldn't find anyone doing a bell housing to mate it to a type9 gearbox but i have heard that it will link up to a Jag X-type gearbox quite nicely.
I also know that Morgan use it in their cars but i don't know what gearbox they use.

If you can find a manual Aerostar the tranny/bellhousing can be used to convert to rwd. A 3.0L Ranger might be useful as well. But that engine is massive and heavy - bigger than a 5.0L Ford V8. Sure is sexy looking though.

Lot's of other, non-traditional, options for the tranverse engines.

Cruise down to the mid-engine forums here on Locostbuilders and check out what folks have been working up.

I can think of half a dozen different Locosters who've built middies, plus there are kits available and you could look at a "SHOgun" style Festiva build.
