advise needed here guys, i need a couple of parts (Caliper, Driveshaft and hub carrier) and the only scrappy in a 25mile raduis wants £60 for these items (i duly told them to fu<k off) but i have the chance for a second sierra donor. This is £25 and is complete and running.

The problem is i only have a month or so to wait for my kit and i want the garage clear for when it arrives and also this new siera has rear disk brakes so i will need the whole diff, shafts and brake set up.

So what i want to know is, is this a good idea or do i source the parts seperatly? Are there any probs in using disk rears on the indy?

I've got discs on mine and a few others have done it,the hub carriers have to be drilled in a different possition so best tell martin if you are going this route.

Too cure overbreaking at the rear i have fitted a FIAT uno reduction valve (cheap as chips),which i will set at SVA.

The only problem i've had is bleeding the rear calipers as they cant sit on top of the disc as on sierra/granada's,they sit to the back at about 10 o-clock so creating an airlock.
It just means you have to remove the caliper to bleed,then again you should only need to do this once or until fluid change.
Also 14" plus wheels are needed to fit over calipers.

I tried them upside down 1st but as you say the handbrake cable loops round underneath,its a bit neater the way i've gone and i think i can live with the air lock bit.

bob is it worth the hassle of getting the second donor and degreasing and painting all of the rear subframe when all i need for drum brakes is a shaft?? it will be cheaper i know but if i can sell other parts im gona do it!

(as you can tell im talking sh!te due to a heavy afternoon in the pub!!!)

well chris im very pleased that not all of those parts are being used on your car as that would be one very wierd car

So i will talk to my friend with this sierra tonite and will hopefully strike a deal

a deal was struck last night and i pick up my new 2.0i DOHC donor on saturday for the princely price of 2 pints! result!
