Just sold my nearly finished locost. Mind, it was NEALY finished when I bought it.

I have decided that I want to start from scratch and actually complete something for a change.

With new found wealth was concidering buying an MK or Lolocost indt chasis and fiting a 2L pinto, as this seems to forfill all of the above.

This is my first attemp at building a locost and have all the mechanical ability of clueless chimp.

Is the fore mentioned combo or good idea for first attempt or what ?

Any other ideas.

talking of clueless chimps,that sums up1 of your above mentioned supliers,the other is good value/quality,plenty on here are building them and no probs so far

I bought a steering column bearing and bracket off them last week and it's spot on, and it was cheap. Don't know about their big stuff but I can't complain.

I thought Luego did do a chassis suitable for a pinto...

The site mentions the volocity and says kit based on 1600 & 1800 Sierra's. I want to get as much umph for as little dosh, so was thinking of a 2.0 pinto. What do ya think ?

I think most 1800 sierras were cvh, but i think (not sure) all the 1600s were pintos so if a 1600 pinto goes in so will a 2000.
i know a lot of people on here rave about the MK indy, and i am not slagging it off, i feel it looks a bit slab sided, the other option is the Avon, but i won't recomend one of them, if i had my money again and was still 7 minded it would probably be a luego...

I have a Lolocost chassis that was built as a one off (I believe) and raffled at a show. I have since modified it in order to sit my gearbox far enough back to dispense with the need for a gear extension. It is near enough identical to the "BOOK" chassis. It was advertised on TOL, and several people made remarks about it's inferior quality etc. Having been to many shows and seen what's on offer, it is every bit as good as the competition, and I now take "EXPERT ONLINE OPINION" with a pinch of salt! However, the chassis that they ended up making is a completely different item. I have bought from them on several occasions, but have always done so at a show and have seen what I was buying. So far, what I have bought has been good value for money.

There are many opinions expressed on this site and others ranging from the GOOD the BAD and the UGLY!!

My advice to you would be to have a look at what is available for yourself before you commit your hard earned cash.

On the subject of Lolocost, I bought a set of wishbones from them with balljoints and trailing arms and panhard rod. The quality is poor in terms of finish but the welding is strong and the convenience of not having to build a jig myself makes it worth every penny. I think they were very good value although I would caution anyone else who is thinking of buying the kit to ask if you can get it without the trailing links and panhard rod because the Nylon bushes that are supplied make the panhard rod and t/links useless. The nylon is too hard and will not allow sufficient movement to accommodate twist during axle roll.

Apart from that no problems and they were very helpful on the phone and delivered within 2 days from stock.

That said I wouldn't fancy buying a chassis from them unless I saw it first...
