End of Life, CoD and all that crap

OK, with all this stupid end of life, certificate of destruction and crap what does the communial wisdom say is the proper way of dealing with donor cars?

I have the Sierra kebab to strip down at some point to build into an MK indy.

What do I do about paper work to keep the DVLA beaks happy?

My plan is to strip down the Sierra, sell anything I don't use, recycle the shell, so in theory I could end up with just a few rubble sacks of bits in the end. Hadly worth getting a CoD for

If I go to one of these ATF things are they going to a) think I'm taking the piss, b) want to take my V5 then I loose my chance of an age related plate?

I'm interested in what I really _should_ be doing rather than what I can get away with IYSWIM. Mostly because one of my friends is a copper and I don't want to leave him in an akward situation of knowing that I'm doing something that could be though of as a wrong by the DVLA (espesh as I may need to ask him to help shift the engine at some point)

Ah it seems from the robin hood lot that you just SORN then at DVLA registration time the original car automatically becomes scapped so you can keep the plate.

Anyone able to confirm this?

You won't be able to keep the same number but you will get an age related plate subject to meeting all relevant criteria. DVLA will "scrap" the donor when you register your build.
Best keep receipts for any bits you sell. I got a receipt from the scrapyard that took the donor shell.
