now this question's not strictly locost, but my dad's just bought a red top off ebay to put in his mk2 cav project. only thing is, the guy he's buying it off doesn't seem entirely sure where the ecu is in the car. obviously once we get there, we know what we're looking for, but just hoped for a bit of clarification.

he's got a couple of boxes with 'a lot of pins' but he doesn't seem too sure.

just wondered if anyone knew where in a calibra the ecu was?

we're going to pick it up on thursday night, so if anyone has a clue, it'd be much appreciated.

ISTR the ECU is located above the drivers side footwell, behind the trim in the door pillar next to where your right foot would be when driving.

certainly is. Big plug on top with lever catch on it. Other boxes under the dash don't have the lever plug.

Make sure you run it and get it warm before you pay up.

cheers for the heads up on the ecu location, it's as we thought, same as the cav's. one of the boxes he says he has came from behind the gearlever, but i assume he will actually have the ecu.

as for running it before paying up, it's already out of the car. if it's knackered, it'll teach my dad to be so gung ho about diving into buying stuff on ebay. it's the engine and all the front running gear though, so he still gets plenty out of it for his £150.
still, if it turns out there's no ecu or engine loom, this guy'll not be getting a penny anyway.

sounds fair enough. have a look in a couple of the rad hoses and see if there's any oily gunge in them, that should tell you about the head condition anyway.
