Any parts worth keeping from an Astra 1.6 1992?

Hi Guys,

We've had my GF's old 1992 Astra 1.6L in the garage for months on end, I was supposed to be putting it through another MOT, but it's gone on so long I bought her a newer car.

Having decided I'm going to order the new Haynes Roadster book tonight I thought I'd better ring one of the local salvage places to collect the car for scrap (it won't start and the battery's knackered + no MOT or TAX) but before I do, I thought I'd look at 2 options:

1: Ask if there was any way that if they've got any Sierras about would they swap one - cheeky, but you never know unless you ask!

2: See if there are any parts that are actually worth stripping off it before having it taken away for scrap....

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Stewart.

Dont think you will use much of it in a locost.
And you have no chance of getting it swaped. Sierra is worth more in weight alone.

Keep your eyes open, there are loads of sierra's in peoples drives ect.
If you are locall I can point you in the direction of a few.

Hang on chaps - I'm quite sure that Caterham used this motor in the 7 a few years back (pre K-series) so a bell-housing is obviously out there (same as XE at a guess?) so if he wanted to use the motor he could??? Shurley?
