Im trying to take the driveshafts off my sierra sapphire ghia with ABS, the driveshafts are held on with 6 torx screws. Problem is, i cant undo the
screws, im using a T40 Torx bitm with a breaker bar and they still wont budge. I sprayed WD40 on them and left them over night aswell. Also the screws
are too close to the flange to use a nut splitter otherwise i would just crack them open.
Anyone had this problem and solved it, or have any ideas on what to do.
Thanks
belive it or not cut the heads off the bolts to remove the couplings then the remaining 'studs' can be removed with a pair of pliers.
Tim
someone had taken a grinder to the torx bolts to remove the shafts on the disc brake rear end i bought ...
Ned.
I had exactly this problem on the T40 bolts I had, one or two would not budge.
After breaking 2 quality T40 socket drive bits, I ground the heads off.
Then, as as been said, they screw out really easy!

[starts digging]presumably replacement torx bolts can be bought cheap from ford, or is there a better supplier? having said that i suppose
they're 10.9 bolts? just need to measure them and call local bolt suppliers i guess? [/stops digging hole]
Ned.
Thanks
I hadnt thought about cutting them off, just splitting them! Im off to have a go now.
Ned,
If you use socket cap bolts, they normally come in 12.9 not 10.9
Got a big box of them from a local olde worlde place in Portsmouth for twenty quid
Yep grind em off,i had the same prob and wa shown the way by the conrodkid.
the botls are as cheap as chips and you will be alot happier with new ones in
