Doner Registration
TGR-ECOSSE - 26/4/07 at 09:25 PM

While going through my "car file" tonight i realised i still have the documents for my old mk2 escort that was last on the road in 1992 so was pre sorn days. The car was scrapped but the plates and vin were removed and i still have them. My question is. If i get in touch with the DVLA to tell them i still own the car am i liable for anything? Although not strictly above board i would like to use this registration as my doner. Are there any problems with doing this?
I also remebered i used to have a mk1 escort that was used as a stock car but can't find the registration document . Can i do anything about this one? Thanks

if you know the reg number of the old escort, you may as well apply for the logbook with dvla and see what happens! i think there is a charge, somewhere around the 20 quid mark but not positive

So long as the DVLA aren't aware that the car has been scrapped and the car wasn't taxed when the sorn regulations came in then you don't owe them anything. The question will be asked about why the car has been "Laid up" for so long, but a simple letter saying that it has been restored will sort it.

This is what I did with my Cortina

Try this link on the reg no.
