I have got my hands on a sierra lsd, but the casing is damaged, the top mounting bolt holes have split, i am going to remove the diff and place it
into another casing, problem is I have never done this and am after a little help, on how to strip the diff's, or does any one have a diagram of
how to do this.
Cheers
Setting up a diff properly is not really a DIY proposition..Not unless you have the correct tools, shims, crush tubes, preload settings etc.Best left to professionals IMO. Try these guys http://www.fostek.co.uk/
I'm believe that only the pinion needs to be set up properly. If you get another diff with a good pinion then leave the pinions in and just swap
the internals.
If you get a diff of another ratio and want to keep the new ratio, swap the crown wheels too.
Never done it myself, but from what I've read here, fitting the LSD into a non-LSD is reasonably straight forward (as Smart51 says).
The older versions of the Sierra and (equivalent date) Granada Haynes manuals have diagrams of how the dif's are put together.
Hope that helps,
James
