Does anyone know if Sierra driveshafts are the same as Granada's- also the rear caliber?
Thx
chris
the rear calipers on the disk models 'look' the same - check a halfords brake catalog, if they spec the same pads thats an even bigger clue,
or look in a scrappy to confirm.
AFAIK 'std' sierras run rear drums but later models had disks.....someone might correct that......however, it seems that all granada and all
disk models ran lobro joints and shafts instear of the tripode ones of drum sierras. I donno if the length is the same, id bet on them not being
so....

I'm not sure it was proven but I think previously the conclusion was that the lobros were the same length on Sierra and Grannys. The reason being
that the Grannys rear track is only an inch or so wider than Sierra so there should be more than enough "play" in the shafts to allow for
half inch each side. And I'm sure Ford wouldn't manufacture a different parts unless they had to...
EDIT - just making my english make sense!!

I agree, but an inch would take up nearly all the play in the joints i have......

The Granny shafts are a longer than Sierra ones but the play will usually make them suitable for a Sierra width car. They are also five stud and have
bigger bearings on the outer ends so you can't swap the Sierra flanges on to get around it (I tried unsucessully!).
Also, most Grannys were fitted with the 7.5" diff whereas most Sierras used the 7". (note I say 'most' The shafts are not
interchangable between diff types.
Some good news tho - yes, the calipers are the same and I believe there are brackets out there to allow them to be used on a drum rear end.

Thx for the info guys- u've surpassed urselves!
Just one more question- can anyone tell me the diameter of the 'splined' part of the sierra or granada driveshaft. Had an idea of fitting
one into a mondeo upright. The 'splined' part of it measures 28mm if thats any help
