I have just been offered a 200sx with a CA18 DET engine, rebored and gas flowed, approaching 250bhp. The price is phenomenally good, and I know the guy selling. Is this going to be a dog to fit into a Locost (its my first one, and Im still at the sourcing stage - so can effect a small redesign to accomodate it if needed), and are there any other problems I am likely to encounter? Any advice or pointers would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
just discovered the search facility - still, would be nice if people could throw in some suggestions. I have seen one question relating to the cars suitability as an entire donor - any thoughts?
Try Dick Lukoszek's website. He's done the same in Aus...HERE
Cheers,
Neil
i would say use it, the engine at least will go down well. if nothing else is useful at least you can get another donor and go superfast!
cant be too hard to fit the lump, it is afterall 4 pot and RWD.
I have welded up several cast exhaust manifolds on these - a weak point if you intend using it
I was originally looking for a 200 sx as my engine donor.
Had some experience with silvias (same engine but 8 valve) and they seem to be pretty bullit proof.
I would go for it. Only thing you might want to consider is that the engine sits at a fair angle in the 200.
The 200 also has an LSD rear diff as stock which is always a bonus.

Try this site. It has a links page with people who have built them from almost anything, including a Nissan Sylvia.
