From looking around a fair bit, the options Ive found for front uprights are:
Find some one a donor cortina in a scrapyard (yeah, right....)
£100 quid or so on ebay
new steel ones from rally design at 125 plus vat plus post
alloy ones fromrally design at 199 plus vat plus post
Any other options around?
For hubs, again,
rally design do alloy ones for about 40 each plus vat plus post
compbrake do them for 70 quid a pair I think
Anywhere Ive missed?
cheers
Use the sierra items, A bit heavier but will do the job with altered top wishbones and much cheaper
Im really working hard to avoid unsprung weight, Im very temped by the alloy uprights but Im told theyre only half a kilo lighter than the steel
ones?
The sierra ones are quite a lot heavier arent they?
Does anyone have a diagram or the dimensions for changing the top wishbone to use a sierra upright?
wilwood do some uprights - go to www.wilwood.com and they've got the details on there. From a very brief look - they look similar to cortina ones
- although i've not even thought of looking at the geometry.
They might be the ones Rally Design are doing - or it might be worth trying to organise a bulk buy and import them yourselves.
Theyre cortina geometry and raldes do them for 125 plus vat plus post the pair. (excl hubs)
BUT and it's quite a big but - you can only seem to get 5 stud hubs for the Wilwood uprights....... which could make wheels a bit of a pain. Otherwise I agree they look good value
try using bottom wishbones from "the book" and top from the haynes roadster book
should work, well i hope so as its my plan
