Bike Engine with no number

Can you put a bike engine in a road legal car that does not have a full engine number?

I know some of these float around ebay, that have been in accidents etc.

Should i stay away from them?

There is only one reason for a bike engine to have no number!! Even accident damaged ones will still have numbers if they are ligitimate. If you buy and use an engine with no numbers, expect bad things to happen!

you have to ask youself why they have no engine numbers

Not strictly true, many stolen recovered engines come back on to the market, that have had the numbers ground off. I bought such an engine which had been sold at a police auction (the full bike) so long as you get all the supporting paperwork there should be no problem.

It's not nice to have evil pixies living in your bread bin. Trust me......

It's either nicked and you're buying stolen goods or it's been nicked and you're buying stolen + recovered.

I wouldn't touch one with a barge pole...
