Will my master cylinder pipework pass IVA?
bodger - 2/7/16 at 01:09 PM

Hi , I've replaced the master cylinder with a Fiat one which has the 10x1.25 connections. Do you think the inline connections will be OK for IVA or will I need to re-run the pipework again? The top right connector is on to a bleed valve to block it off.

Ignore the reservoir cap in the pic it's dangling off the wiring whilst I bleed the brakes. I know you don't have to do it too often but I'm finding removing & turning upside down the rear callipers to get the air out a bit of a PITA.
cheers

As long as nothing leaks and the pipes are supported it'll pass.

Thanks, yes plenty of support. TBH if it works well i"ll probably run independent pipework to the front brakes at a later date but then again I may replace it with a balance bar setup. For now I just want to get it through the test & on the road.

the hose has to be suitable for brake fluid too,

Yep, it is CBS's finest brake reservoir hose. Had to buy the 8mm master cylinder connectors from Fiat. Paid around £13 for two. They had to order them from Italy & when they came they were in a pack of 5 & the parts guy said i might as well have the whole pack, so i got 3 extra free. Maybe I should have just ordered one

yea, I saw that good hose was in use, but you may have to provide the certification for it.
likewise I saw the hose clips were right.
looks good, and shows how it can/should be done.

You' will be Okay with it but personally I would never splice a pipe uing a male tube nut screwed straight into female tube nut, the correct way is to use a double ended joint fitting either male to male or female to female.

+1 As britishtrident said .

Both Ford and Peugeot use the male to female connections , I prefer to do as BT does

Thanks, that's an easy fix.

You don't need to fix as long as you know the fittings have enough threads fully engaged. On some tube nuts designs the thread only starts about 3mm from the end and if the flares are on the generous side this could result in the threads onle being engaged a couple of turns.

Don't forget that for IVA you will need a "brake fluid type" sticker.
