Luke2842 - 18/11/13 at 08:08 PM

Hi all,

Have been a member on the forum for quite a while but haven't posted before, my car passed its IVA test first time last month and have since got the plates through, thought I'd post a few pictures up... its a Haynes Roadster.

Hope my car turns out half as nice as that. Great job.

carpmart - 18/11/13 at 09:18 PM

Looks very well put together, well done.

Smoking Frog - 18/11/13 at 10:35 PM

Well done, your's looks "right". What's the story concerning the headlights in pic 2 is it an illusion or my eyes.

RK - 19/11/13 at 02:22 AM

Very nice job on that!

Nickp - 19/11/13 at 06:36 AM

That does look really well finished, good work fella
What's the story with the centre tunnel cover? Looks very neat.

iank - 19/11/13 at 08:40 AM

Very tidy job, never easy to get a first time pass, but being that clean and neat really helps put the tester in a good frame of mind.

mangogrooveworkshop - 19/11/13 at 08:51 AM

Stick with the EFI your car will go everyday and start every time …….
don't be tempted by a performance upgrade unless you have plenty of hair to pull out

daveb666 - 19/11/13 at 08:55 AM

Wow, lovely car. Where is the rear diffuser from?

mikeb - 19/11/13 at 10:27 AM

Looks good fella,

A couple of questions for you.

1. Dash and Aeroscreen - where were they from?
2. Are the front indicators, caterham type ones, did they pass IVA in that position.
3. Love the tranny tunnel cover - fanyc making another one....

Mike

yellowcab - 20/11/13 at 05:36 PM

Lovely example - you should be proud of that, think the tunnel & carbon wrap looks awesome too.

paddywil - 20/11/13 at 10:31 PM

Looks really great! Well done on the first time pass!!

Luke2842 - 23/11/13 at 10:31 AM

Thanks guys for the good comments.

The story with the headlights was that I needed to make a couple of brackets so that the indicators were in the right place for the IVA - Mike they are the caterham style ones.

The bodywork was from Saturn Sports cars, while the dash and aeroscreen are from Carbon Mods.

The rear diffuser is from GBS for the wide Zero - happens to fit really well.

The transmission tunnel was made out of MDF and bendy ply, before I covered it in foam and a carbon like fabric - it slots down over the transmission tunnel.

dai1983 - 21/12/13 at 02:54 PM

Lovely car. I'll echo the comments about the nicest locost I've seen. What engine is it and what power/weight do you have?

serieslandy - 21/12/13 at 04:54 PM

Looks like a Sierra Dohc (2L?)

me! - 21/12/13 at 06:08 PM

That looks bloody great!

Luke2842 - 23/12/13 at 06:46 PM

Thanks guys, yes it's the Sierra 2.0 DOHC and weighs in just over 500kg

Nice. Do you have a build dairy anywhere? I'm sure a few of us would like to see it.

serieslandy - 23/12/13 at 10:02 PM

Luke has photos here but doesn't have a build diary.

Darek32 - 24/12/13 at 06:14 AM

That's a really nice looking car.
Good job !

Piooly - 30/1/14 at 08:33 PM

Hey Luke,

Very nice car !! Top job. I am building mine at the moment and I love the bonnet, think the Saturn body might look nicer than the equinox.

I love what you have done with the tunnel cover, I am going to steal that idea as its exactly how I want mine. I had planned to use carbon look fabric so it's nice to see what it kit look like at the end. I also wanted to fit the rear diffuser so it's nice to know the wide GBS one fits nicely.

Great job!

Alces - 17/3/14 at 04:00 PM

Great looking car Luke, How long did it take to build?

Luke2842 - 1/5/14 at 08:58 PM

Just thought I’d mention that the car will be on the CKC stand at Stoneleigh this weekend, and is in the magazine over the next two issues.

dubzter - 1/5/14 at 09:33 PM

stunning, hope I'll be able to catch a glimpse on Monday at the show then.

Edit- First post as well

Had a good weekend at Stoneleigh

adithorp - 7/5/14 at 08:56 AM

It looked good. Probably the best looking Haynes build I've seen.
