Just thought I would share my insurance tale.

My renewal came through from A/F. I spoke to them about current value etc and asked if their quote was the best they could do. As I'm sure you would expect yes it was.

I phoned around a few other insurers and then called A/F back to take advantage of their "we beat any price" offer. I have to admit to not being very surprised to find they dropped it from £224 inc legal and European breakdown to £151!

I'm very happy with that! It's annoying having to phone around but well worth the hours effort.

Oddly I have been on the phone with them today as well.... You don't want to know how much I am having to pay to insure a 13 year old landrover!

Flux quoted me over £500 for my modified MK1 Fiesta, went with Graham Sykes who are brokers for KJG specialist insurance and been with them for 3 years now, my insurance quotes from them were £170 first year, £210 second year and £156 this year, this I am happy with.

Edit - should add this includes £16 for legal expenses cover as well.

I know this feeling all too well! I used to insure my Defender 90 with them, but the quotes went up and up. Currently hunting around some of the other specialists for better quotes....

The nfu are the only other company I could find that would insure something with 9 seats..... Sadly they won't cover my postcode becuase apparently it's a crime hot spot.... Which id argue but hey ho

I managed to negotiate them down from the renewal price of £400 (tp,f&t) to £256 fully comp.

With any renewal I may or may not give the insurance company a mysteriously competitive quote from another insurer, that could or could not be made up.... But the upshot is it seems to work and saves the hassle or calling around.
