Trailer Dimensions ?
wombat - 4/8/16 at 06:00 PM

Hi all,
I have sourced a 2003 Alko 5 stud caravan chassis and am now ready to start building it into a race car trailer for a single seater.
I'm following the build plan of 2004 MK Indy Busa Project.

Would someone be able to give me the dimensions of the bed runners please?
I'm looking specifically for the width, which I'm guessing is going to be 300 to 400mm......
Also the thickness would help?

Cheers

300mm is plenty for standard width wheels.

I've built exactly same trailer myself

Oh and 3mm galv is what I used and its fine

Don't forget you will need to IVA test the trailer

There is a trailer build project / manual / guide?

The bed on mine is 12' x 6'1" but double axle as i carry a big gazebo on the front.

Width is perfect but with a single axle you could shorten that length 18"

Cheers guys.
Ben where did you get the material from?
Was it bent for you or did you do it after?
Does it really need IVA ?
How much is IVA. On a trailer??

Hi mate.

The galv I had a local engineering shop order and fold for me. He's a friend and Kitcar builder so was easy process really. Although I did help him man handle the steel.

As your using an existing chassis 99% of people wouldn't bother with IVA just update the chassis plate with the correct weights.

As others have said since you are using a type approved chassis then just re-rate it if it needs to be.

Current IVA is 70GBP
