Thinking of getting back into biking, and I am keeping a eye on a zx10 which is local to me,

would like to do some touring down to friends in south of france,

is this a bad choice of bike to start back again, any major problems with a bike of this age.

other choice would be a cbr

If it's touring then you want my wife's Triumph Sprint ST with panniers here

With bikes that age it's more down to the condition of the bike. ZX10's were a good bike, the later ZZR1100's are better if you can find one at the right price.

If its one of the old ZX10s, also known as a Tomcat then you'd be better off with the CBR. The ZX10 was a fragile motor compared with the 1000 CBR. They had a habit of spitting out half of no3 con rod. A lot to do with maintenance.

I worked in a bike breakers for a while. The shelves were full of CBR motors while ZX10s were rarer than a rare thing.

i have been watching that as it is a very nice bike, but think it has already gone past my budget. did not want to spend a great deal on a bike to start off, i used to have a bike when i worked in manchester but now i am local it does not save much on travel time.
