another newbie

Hi everyone,

I'm sure you've had this post a hundred times before, but i'm new to kit cars and am still in the planning and research stage. I am seriously concidering the mk indy as my first build. I am a novice at mechanics, with a basic to average understanding of vehicles. with a good selection of general tools. Am eager to learn, and excited about the build

I would appreciate all and any infomation you can give me on kit car building, mk indys (this will be a fairly budget project, at least for the first few months) and donor vehicles would be really appreciated.

thanks in advance, wibble, kidderminster.

Hi Wibble. You will find the 'search' function on this site very helpfull and any of the words such as MK, NMR, budget, etc will bring up months of reading. There are a lot of part bult cars about due to the economic times and these may see you started on a half decent budget. Buying a full kit is alyays going to cost. Consider your options v carefully and take your time! All the best.Martin

lol and heard it more than a couple more times from you now haha!

anyway, youll find loads of help on this site if you search and ask, welcome to the site.

on the mk, i wish i had bought one, they are very reasonable for people on a budget, takes a lot of hassle out of the build, and to be honest you really cant make it any cheaper ive found. Ive got to probably about the same point as the kit you get from mk minus bodywork, fuel tank and a few other bits and its cost me 3.5k anyway! :O bodywork is going to cost me probably another grand ....
so good value i think!

Al

If you're thinking of an MK, have a read of our build/rebuild diaries. Should give you some idea of the work involved in building a BEC. It is a BEC you're considering isn't it?

Phil

You're a very bad boy, Phil.

But perhaps due to the extra noise, it might be good for audiologists like me; down the road so to speak.
