What donor Parts are needed to complete kit?

Hi All,

I'm planning on building myself a kit car more than likely a MK Indy unless there is a better value option?

Thus far I have soursed myself an engine and box to use in a kit car i plan to build. I am not going down the norma pinto rout as i wanted to be different (and set myself a challenge!) If you have read my earlier post I will be using a T5 engine.

Obviously I need a Dif, steering rack and I presume hubs etc? What else will I need to complete the car? I want to have all the parts stripped cleaned up painted and ready PRIOR to purchasing the kit. I realise I could contact MK bbut thought it would be good to ask you guys

Ideally I need a Dif of 3.30:1 or lower would be better, does anybody know what model Sierra would have that?

So to sum it up which model should I buy to get the correct LSD, I'm guessing a diesel or auto?

Which parts will I need bearing in mind I do not plan to use the engine or box.

Final question though somewhat off topic is it worth going for the Indy R Deluxe over the normal Indy Deluxe kit?

You need to speak to MK to ensure the engine and box fits, then ask what other donor parts are required.

The chassis will be built on a jig and set up for specific engine ,box, diff and running gear.

There's a couple of people on here who have/are fitting T5 engines into Indys. matt_claydon and benzine I think are the people.

IIRC benzine had to cut and re-position/re-weld some of the chasis rails to accommodate the T5 motor and gearbox.

Sierra diffs range from 3.38 (very scarce and very £££) through 3.62 and up to 3.9 ish. The latter 2 are very common and chea to pick up.

Other than that you'll need (from a Sierra)...

manual steering rack
front hubs
front/rear brakes
driveshafts to suit diff and drum/disc rear brakes
steering column
hand brake

Remember that MK will need to modify your steering rack and front hubs to suit. They may simply take your standard items in exchange for ready modified ones (they did for me) so not worth cleaning them too much beforehand.

Word has it that the Indy R chassis produces a more capable car and IMHO would be worth the extra given you're going to have quite a bit of power available.
