Mazda MX6
Hello, has anyone ever used a Mazda mx6 2.5 v6 for a donor car?. I have a perfectly good one but will put back on road or use for a kit car donor. Any
help will be appreicated.

I think Clairetoo uses a Mazda V6 in her car. I think you'd only get to use the engine in a kit though so I wouldnt build a kit car just to use
the engine.
Edit: In fact - i wouldnt build a kit car just because you have a potential donor car! Pick the kit and get a suitable donor car should always be the
way to go about deciding what to build

I was building from stratch and dont wont a kit really. Just cant seem to find a donor car without spending loads. just trying to use what i had.

Problem is you may end up spending loads more overall by trying to get something to work than you would on a more suitable donor in the first place.
For example, a custom bellhousing if needed and 2 exhausts to suit the V6 will probably cost a lot more than an MX5 or Sierra donor would.
Not trying to put you off at all, just trying to stress that its the bigger picture that needs considering at the outset.

Sorry but I disagree. If you don't want to build a kit and are looking more at building a special, whether it be 7 shaped or not it
doesn't matter!
If you have a mazda that you want to use then use it, thats the great thing about these projects! What is it that you want to build? You could make a
completely custom car just built around the mazda components.
The only word of warning I would say is that the further you stray from the beaten path the longer it will take you to get over the inevitable hicups,
but don't let that put you off - thats half the fun of building your own car and only adds to your sense of achievement once you're
finished!

Just so long as you understand or can learn about suspension and chassis design, and have the ability to design a car from scratch then i'd

i think alot of depends on how big the engine is once its out. i have no set plans yet as it will be a completely custom build.

At least i have a complete workshop and rebuild cars as a hobby for people. I like doing body work just never done a full car before.

As above really, you've got the space and most of the skills necessary. If you're careful with your planning and research then
you'll be fine. Like Steve says though, poor design of suspension in particular will mean you'll get a car that will handle like a pig!

The Mazda V6 is very small - it's shorter in both length and height than a crossflow (but more than a bit wider  ) and only 110 kgs

Didn't know that... sounds like a pretty good choice of engine!
