shiply

Hi All

See from a search that quite a few people have used the shiply site to get a car moved.

Just wondering how you've all done this in practice ?

1) did you view the car first - particularly interested in salvage cars/non MOT cars here ?

2) - if shiply courier picks it up for you, how do you pay the person selling the car - do you pay before pickup ? Bit worried car might "disappear" !!

3) - if it's cat C/D or even just a non-MOT and taxed car, how did you get the V5 - did you ask the courier to make sure he got it ?

4) Do you pay courier on delivery ?

5) For salvage - did you need to turn it around on your own to fit it in driveway/garage/workshop/wherever you stripped it down

thanks
Paul

I have used them a few times, When you get quotes have a look at the persons feedback its a bit like ebay you can see if they are good eggs or not.
If you want the car trailoring make sure they intend to do that, some will want to drive the car to you. You pay a deposit by paypal when you agree with the person to go ahead then pay the remainder on delivery.
I have found it to be a very good and cheap way of getting cars delivered.

I have used Shiply a couple of times and I was pleased with the service.

The last time I used them I wanted a set of leather seats moved from Aylesbury to Stevenage. I paid the seller through Paypal, advertised for a courier and when I got the quotes I picked the one that I though was going to do the job properly (not necessarily the cheapest one).
I paid a deposit to Shiply and when the seats arrived I paid the rest of the quote to the courier. The seats were not wrapped and they arrived without a mark on them; a really good job by the courier who's details are below

Listing Title: Facelift Omega Estate Light Tan Leather Interior Seats
Transport Provider: ECDUBLIN (2)
Transport Provider contact information: Dublin Couriers
trishwisdom@yahoo.co.uk
Phone: 01865774510
Mobile: 07506745614

Your payment details:

Deposit Paid: £7.05 [Receipt Number: 43979*********]
Balance To Be Paid: £25.95
Total: £33.00

... and despite the name they were not from Dublin

thanks folks - getting a bid sorted on shipley, deposit and then rest on delivery sounds good.

I've found a couple of possible donors yes but not put in any serious bids yet as they are all on ebay.

I don't suppose it's that good an idea to buy unseen and I'm still worried about the V5 if I did.

I'm not too bothered about the V5 from registration perspective as I don't mind a Q plate - it's more I'd want to get it to make sure V5 shows scrapped or transferred to the kit and wasn't "floating" about. Plus there's the matter of proving engine age.

Has anyone bought a car unseen and got the V5 using a shiply sourced courier ?
