E36 hub nuts - what socket do I need ?
Hi there
Mega day on my donor today prior to Stoneleigh tomorrow !! The chassis is now entirely stripped of everything barring suspension - I surely
can't have more than 30 odd bolts left now !!
Anyway I have a question about the hub nuts - what sort of socket do I need ? They are splined and I think they are 46mm ? Also are they reverse
threaded ? Car is an E36 BMW 325i.
I'm hoping to find a suitable socket tomorrow so I can get it finished off this month.
thanks and hopefully I'll catch up with a few of you tomorrow.

Bonza - my socket set actually goes up that far as well so I have already !!
Don't suppose you could tell me if they are reverse threaded ? Am I likely to be able to get them off with a 2 foot breaker bar ?
Thanks again

You already have a 12 point one? u have a good range of tools!
No reverse threads. they have two little tabs which bet hammered into slots on the shaft. yeh should be fine with a 2 foot breaker bar if you put all
you weight through it. Bit of penetrating fluid will help nicely aswell.
The shafts can be tricky to get out. They are a very tight fit in the hub. I had to use a punch into the center of the shaft (so it didnt ruin the
threads) and a sledge hammer to loosen it out.

Thanks again.
I haven't got that many tools !!! A while back I bought a set of 6 point impacts and a set of 12 point chrome ones - didn't realise they
went up that high though !!
