Are all sierra columns the same?
I acquired a load of donor parts today and the seller threw in a sierra column. It's from an unknown year or model sierra and is adjustable.
It's got a strange UJ type of thing on the end with a disc of material that flexes. Is this normal? Will it work on an MK?

Somepeople leave it on (like me) some take it off in the belief they get more feel through the rack.

With the column you have two types, fixed and adjustable.
With the down linkk you have two types, power steering and manual. Manual will bolt to an escort rack power will not.
There are three types of switch gear. The very early ones had a square hazard button, latter round and two ways they are wired.

Don,t sling it if you don't want it, getting very rare, I tracked a complete column on the bay last week and it went for £86

No not going to sling it, i'm sure i can make it fit. It has a round hazard switch and it's definatly from a manual rack and is
adjustable. It's just i've seen pictures on ebay of other sierra columns and the end that bolts onto the rack looks longer and had no
flexy disc thingy. Has anyone got a picture of one that i can compare mine to. Unfortunatly my parents inlaw have gone on holiday with my camera so
i can't take any myself. I only gave hime an extra £4 for it so i can't moan too much.

Check that the triangular part has been pushed into the column, you can pull it back out with a vice, should be about as long as the upper column, the
flexy disc is a UJ that fits to the Sierra rack, the rod that goes from the triangular section to the flexy UJ will need lengthening with a steel tube
welded on
