sierra steering column

Hi all

I have bought a sierra adjustable steering column off ebay...

all well and good..

it was delivered today, well wrapped.

now to the problem.

the seller has pushed the triangulated/ collapsable bit up into the main column to make it shorter for postage.

will I be able to pull it back out or is the column throw away .

thanks Gavin

Nah, it'll be ok, go and give a big tug mate, won't come all the way out.

Cheers

Rich

Hi

Errr not necessarily correct. It will depend if the secondary bush inside the column has bees pushed up with the inner shaft. It is not captivated and can come loose leaving the inner shaft only supported by the end bush. That's no good as it allows far to much play on the inner shaft.

All you can do is pull the inner shaft back out to the desired length and pray that the secondary bush is still in place.

Cheers Matt

Hi

On the race cars if this happens we just bolt through the inner and outer shafts to lock them up. Obviously no good if you require the collapsibility of the inner section.

Hope all is ok with the bush.

Cheers Matt
