Ford Fiesta

Hi
I'm interested in getting involved in a joint project between my Dad and myself, but am after some advice.

My Dad's old Ford Fiesta 1.6L Ghia (M Reg) died at the weekend - basically the car is structurally sound but the head gasket went, which in turn took out the head etc and now fails to start.
I also have a ford fiest (K reg 1.4) which runs perfectly fine apart from a bit of work needed in welding it underneath soon.
We are just after some advice as to how feasilble it would be to use these 2 cars i.e. engine etc from the 1.4 fiesta and anything else from the 1.6 fiesta to build a kit car.
We havent got a clue as to whether the fiesta can be used as a donor car and if so what for or anything so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
We'd be open to building anything....
I look forward to hearing from you.

welcome to the madhouse, there isnt a lot on the fiesta to use on a 7,you need a rear wheel drive doner like escort/capri/seirra etc, depends on what you want as well, make your own or buy a chassis,V8 power or 1300 4 pot, plenty of choice out there.
have a read round and see what you fancy

You could prolly use the 1400 engine, if you could find a suitable gearbox, and you'd be able to use things like the pedal box, servo, windscreen washer etc.

If you're gonna build a locost it's gonna have rwd, so you'd need to source parts from a Sierra, Cortina, MKI Escort, MKII Escort, or possibly other rear wheel drive cars. Don't know off-hand, but you may be able to use a Type 9 box from a Sierra. I'm using a 1600 CVH (most likely the same as the one in your 1600) and you're able to use the Type 9 with that. You would have to modify the sump and oil pick-up though.

You may also be able to use the wheels.

I thought about using parts from a MKII Golf GTi, but only ended up taking the handbrake lever off.

Best of luck though.

Don't you just hate it when someone posts whilst your replying?

Quantum do a fiesta based kit if you want to just build something based on what you've got. There are others out there as well if you look around.

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Fiesta

Hi,
I am currently looking at building a car and looked at the Sylva Mojo. This is based on the Fiesta using the 1600CVH engine, gearbox, diff and front uprights. There web site is www.sylva.co.uk. It looks diffent as the engine is in the back.
