How heavy is an MG Midget fuel tank (from a fury)?
Dear All
Does anyone know how heavy the MG Midget fuel tank is? I'm currently making a composite tank for the car and am very keen to know what the
original tank weighs (mine went to the scrapper years ago without being weighed).
Thanks for supporting my obsessive quest for weight loss - it's worth it to keep me off the streets.

In my experience GRP tanks are a waste of time even if they don't leak they usually end up heavier than OEM steel tanks.

I've still got my old one kicking around the garage. If you wait I can weigh it on Thursday.

The one from my stylus weighed in at 5.972 kg without a sender, but modified for FI with an approx 1 litre sump on the bottom.

Thanks All, I'll go for 5.75 KG, because my old one didn't have a sump.
When I complete the aramid tank, I'm hoping for both half the weight and also a greater carrying capacity to tank weight ratio.
If I remember correctly, the tank holds 20 litres.
Cheers
Mark
