Mg midget turbo
Hi
I have decided that when i get around to starting my locost project i will use a scrap MG Midget as a donor car. To give the engine a little bit
more poke i intend to fit a turbo charge from an MG metro to it. Does anyone know whether this will be problematic?

There was a post about this recently.
The general opinion was that using a midget as a doner is a bad idea (although I still like the idea if a slow, historic style of car is required).
Turbocharging sounds like a lot of cost and grief when a better result could be had using a bigger ford engine - eg if a sierra were used as a doner.

you will need low compo pistons from the metro,i belive the gudgeon pins are different as are con rods soooooooooooo maybe not as easy as you
think,the gearboxes and half shafts are weak
who cares who wins

Nitrous is more fun if a little expensive as it doesn't last very long between re fills

Iv done all this turbo converting before and its a pain in the ass
the best thing to do is to buy a scrap metro turbo and know the engine runs fine
then take the whole thing out and drop the whole thing in
not forgetting all the bits
ie fuel regulator is v important
youll need a return to your fuel tank
etc
etc

At the risk of a thread resurrection...
This got talked about on one of the MG Fora I frequent. The agreed list ended up as a Maestro A+ 1275 block, Metro rods/pistons, Metro turbo/carb, and
a Frontline Spridget Type 9 conversion kit to supply the RWDness.

The as was the original Westfield Seven -- Midget is no problem as a base only thing to watch is the rear axle is narrow. But I f you want power fit
a K series rather than the metro turbo.
A standard 1.4 K16 Mpi from a 214Sei kicks out 104 ps with no turbo lag.
