ive been offered a free volvo 740 !

the problem is i cant fit it in my garage and i dont realy want it out front, could i angle grind off the back end of it once ive stripped the parts i need?

its 125 miles away from me so its quite a distance with no mot or tax..... i dont have a trailer and only got a diesel punto with a towing capacity of 900kg so i would need to either pay for collection or make a new friend that owns a car trailer

something like this would seriously aid me in my £1200 locost....
not sure bout engine size tho.....

cheers

matt

That's it! The winner of the Locostbuilder pissing competition is the person who can in one go (of course!) karate chop a Volvo 740 in half with the hand of their choice....

I choose someone elses

Hire a 12" petrol grinder, dead cheap and will see it in half in no time. Try not to cut through the fuel and brake lines though!

You'd have no probs getting rid. Scrap steel prices have gone thro the roof - a friend just got £105 for a Rover 827 purely for scrap steel value, not from a breaker!!! So I think they'd be happy to take away a (2 piece!) shell for free.

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

I've recently weighed in a Pug 106 fairly complete & a Polo stripped but with a fair bit of crap tin inside it, I got £95 for the 2 which weighed 1600kg together.
When I've cut stuff in half I've cut the fuel & brake lines first & nipped the ends up with pliers to seal them & folded them away from the path of the saw. It does take a fair bit of doing on a well built beast such as that but its good fun too if you want to vent some fury

Agreed as the general consensus goes - I'd get the car recovered to a scrapyard and then get the bits off you need and leave the rest for them -as a thanks for getting in an area for you to work on it...

ACTUALLY - 'SCRAP' that idea!

You in the AA? Just make out you broke down and get them to tow the car back to your home - then strip @ leisure and then weigh the car in with the scrap man! That's what I'd do

If the AA sends a private contractor as they always have when I've used them you'll be ok I think. When the wheel bearings failed on the borrowed trailer we had the bloke couldnt get the trailer & my trackday Mini on the wagon together, so we left the trailer under a motorway flyover & he fetched the totally not road legal Mini home on its own.
We went back a couple of days later with spare hubs & fetched the trailer which sadly didnt get pinched back ourselves.
