which is best
hope you lot can help!! i was going to start building until i heard of the new book coming out based on the sierra as a donor but is there any sierra
which is best to use ie engine for size, fittment etc.

one with a pinto ideally, possibly one with a nice LSD if you can find one

agree with above, one of the early sierras with the Pinto engine,
I'm not sure if these were available with rear disc brakes or not. Avoid the Estates, they used a slightly different differential that will
require a small modification to the mounting brackets. HTH

or you could build it to the book and whack a ZX9r engine in there going for about 450 quid at the moment bit more money but think of the
performance

thanks the older the better as i may get it cheaper ha ha for some reason it seams as though the price has gone up in the last couple of weeks
probably just my imagination is there any way of telling if the car has a lsd. i know nothing about bikes but you never know for the future

The LSD has bolt on style drive shafts as appose to push in style.
You find a LSD in the XR4X4I for definate,
Im sure others will be able to list more,

Might depend on whether or not you can get a Sierra!
Getting fewer these days like the Escort Mk2 the original book was based on.
I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

There are over 75,000 Sierras taxed and in use in the Uk, plus those that are laid up and the parts cluttering up garages throughout the land.
You only need one!

That equates to approx 1.5 Sierras currently taxed and in use for every square mile of England. Not to mention those untaxed or scrapped.
(Wales and Scotland haven't been included in the figure above cos they're mainly covered with sheep and haggis respectively, thus leaving
little room for Sierras.)

well thats me screwed then as i live in Glasgow and i dont think that there would be many parts of a sheep or a haggis that would be of much use
during construction.

the ghia 4x4's have the same running gear as the XR4x4's, ie slippy diff.
