granny
hi all
my mate has been offered a ford granada
he asked me if it would be ok for a donor car
any idea what rear suspension and front upright set up is on them and if it would work on a locost

I think it should be ok. Most of the parts are the same or similar to the sierra.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

What engine size?
Most have a lsd, use a 7.5" diff (most sierras are 7. Think it is stronger though.

Engine (2.0 pinto better than 6v twin cam),
Gearbox (type 9 better than mt75),
Rear axle (might want to swap 5 stud drive plates for 4 stud from sierra or late scorpio),
Rear hubs,
Front & rear brakes inc caliper mounts (alternate new discs from sierra if going 4 stud),
Hand brake lever,
Steering column,
Instrument cluster & switches,
Fuel sender unit,
Injection ecu, pump & filter (if injection),
Wirring loom & fuse box,
All the above are usable.
Front hubs are bigger in all dimensions than Sierra they can be used BUT most people obtain front hubs from Sierra's to use.

but the 2.0 Pinto cars mostly have 7" 3.92 open diffs
the 8v DOHC might have 7.5" or 7" open diff
The engine, gearbox, diff, front and rear brake calipers are the same as the sierra ones
the differences are -
the fornt hubs/ uprights - these are totaly different (but you can get sierra ones easy enough - rally design are selling new ones!)
the rear hubs are the same apart form the 5 studs (5x112 instead of 4x108) - so you can swap the flanges for 4 stud or convert the front to 5
the driveshafts may be slightly longer but this should be ok depending on your rear axle design/ setup
If I've learnt anything so far about old fords, its take nothing for granted - even if its supposed to have something (like an LSD) you
can't be to sure that its still ther or was ever fitted
