MX-5 donors
Anyone know what kind of ballpark money the Westfield lot tend to pay for their MX-5 donors? The mrs stuffed hers into the armco coming on to the M25
this morning, I'm trying to weigh up whether to repair it or not.
It's only cosmetic damage, will need a new front bumper and o/s/f wing, and one of the running lights in the bumper. Even if I can find panels
in the right colour off eBay (and there's not much of any colour on there at the moment) or a breakers i'm probably looking at £200. In
good nick I don't think I could sell the car for much more than £1200. It's a '91 1.6 Eunos if that helps.
We were going to sell it in the next few weeks anyway (as soon as the sun comes back out really), now I just need to work out what's the best
way to get rid

I'd say strip it for it's parts - someone loking for a donor for a westy will probably only give you 750 for it if it's a bit bashed
up, but save them the time of stripping out the donor parts, and you might get a faor bit more than that (Westfield use a lot of parts from the donor
though, so it may take some time to do).
You'll be able to sell all the other parts too.

I hadn't realised that MX-5's had gotten so cheap! Bad news for an owner, but good news for me. I've fancied doing something based
on the MX5 for yonks.
I've got a couple of chassis jobs on the go at the moment, but when I've finished them I know what I'm going to be working on!
I wonder if I can adapt my 1.8t engine to fit the MX5 gearbox?

I did think of stripping it, people seem to be buying 'donor kits' of the parts for over a grand. I can't really be bothered though,
the SDV kit uses so much of the thing it'll take ages to strip it all out without destroying bits of it, and my build is going slow enough as it
is. I don't think I'll make enough extra by doing it to make it worth the effort
Might have to just put it up for sale on the westy forum and see what i'm offered.

Hmm, interesting mixture of anglo/amercanisms there. Buying Miatas (USA name for the MX5) in £s? Or have you just translated the dollar price into £s
for us?
I'm assuming the build is taking place in the USA rather than in Wales?
I'm particularly interested in this subject because I've pretty much decided that as soon as I have finished the work on the cars that I
have lined up at the moment, that I am going to develop an MX5 based chassis.

Is the corn as high as an elehphant's eye yet?
I shall be watching your progress with interest. Incidentally, will you be making your own bodywork, or can you buy what you need over there?
I like your wishbone making set up.

I will be building mine based on an mx5 donor car. for 1200 you can buy one that won't be damaged. I have found several damaged one, even
repaired that didn't go over 700.
