Donor parts?

I'm hopefully going to build a BEC MK in the not too distant future and I dont relish having a donor on the drive for a while and then having to get rid of it. Therefore I'm thinking of sourcing all the parts I need from the scrapyard. Does anybody have a list of all the parts I would require. I know of the obvious ones, but a complete list would make things so much easier. I know this is going to be the costlier option but I'm hoping it will be easier.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Gotta agree with Steve- it really doesn't take long to strip a car if you're feeling keen.
Ned did his in a weekend too.

If you're determined to get all bit from scrappy then it's a long list... which I can't be arsed to type!

You put up your list of what you think you'll need and we'll then add to it! Sounds like a labour saving way system to me!

HTH,

James

you must have a desperate scrappy. Mine charged me 60 just to take the shell away. I think id get told to bog off in northants if I wanted virtually a complete car in bits, labour included, for 80 quid!

Also depends on whether you want an age related plate or not when you register your vehicle.

If you do it right, the car shouldn't be on your drive for more than a few weeks at most.

well done that man.

i liked taking the donor apart. all those times in the past, working on cars when bolts wouldnt come out - you know the kinda thing.

On a donor, you just GET THE BIG GRINDER and hack it all off

lots of fun!

had to get my LSD from elsewhere though - 2 hours under a 4x4 with a grinder....bolts i couldnt get to with a grinder too.........
reminded me so much that i had a good buy with the rest of the stuff....

hey folks....another thing if you buy 'bits' and not the whole car.........remember to check you have the keys......BEFORE you fit the steering column...........guess who didnt....

Thanks for the responces gents. Firstly I think I'll do what colibriman suggested and have a word with my local scrappy to see how much the major parts may cost. If its gonna be megabucks then I will go the donor car route, but I think it'll take me more than 15hrs to strip. When it comes to things like this I'm completely clueless at the moment but I'm willing to learn.......the hard way if necessary.

Thanks again

Nick.
