stripping mx5
I'm going to start stripping mx5 donor when I get a free weekend. Is it easier to lift the body off the chassis as I've seen on a few
exocet build videos or leave body attached and pull everything off as per most cars. For the record I have no use for the body and chassis other then
selling what I can on ebay.
I have a small homemade engine crane which will lift the engine and box but nothing more. Can get a reasonable number of friends around for the price
of beer and pizza to lift the body if I go that way.

I did 2 mx5s by chocking up on wooden blocks. I then dismantled the whole car from there on my own. Supported the engine and box up on more wood and
just slide it out. I then cut the shell up with a recip saw and took it to the scrappy in the back of my pickup.

What I'm aiming for is to;
Strip the electrics, including loom, switchgear, lights, instruments, etc.
Remove the seats
Remove anything that is needed for the engine that is attached to the body rather than the chassis.
Then remove the body and dispose of it.
That should leave me the important bits of the car, with only the two subframes to bin once they've been stripped.
That's what I'm planning anyway, I have no idea whether it's going to work!!

If either of those are BRG MK1s with rust free front wings, give me a shout...
