Got my donor for free today (woo hoo)
been given a1988 (E reg) 2.0i GLS sierra today, needs a battery to get it running.
I guess sierra spares in aldershot will give me a few quid for anything unused (lights, doors, elec window setups, interior, bumpers etc etc)
seems in good nick, just need to get the bugger running, then i can see what exactly i've got....
Please feel free in advance to: correct, update, ridicule or laugh and point at any comments made by myself in this post....

Hi Eddie,
I know of Sierra spares as I work not far from them. I hadn't realised you could take them stuff. I've kept most of my Sierra's
interior so maybe I'll give them a call!
Are you based in Aldershot? Come along to the next Newlands brekkie meet if you are!
Cheers,
James

There's no excuse for not knowing of the regular meetings of the West London Mafia!
Do you not read the clubs and events section???
Shokkin behaviour I tell you...
Anyway, Newlands corner is just outside Guildford and it's where a few of us meet up on the 1st (ish!) Sunday of the month. To which you are
invited and very much welcome.
Bordon's near Farnham isn't it? Should only take 20 minutes to get to Newlands from there.
See:
http://forum.locostbuilders.co.uk/xmb/viewthread.php?tid=6873
Or other posts in clubs and events.
It's just outside Guildford on the A25 (goes to Dorking from Guildford) .
Next meeting is 7/07/03, new boys get the teas in!
Cheers,
James

By jelly mould i assume you are refering to that fine peice of british engineering, and mainstay of the modern kitcar industry, the Ford Sierra....
Got mine free because the guy 2 doors down was trying desperately to get rid, he's moving to scotland and needs rid (no tax & ticket).
Needless to say he was happy as a smoker in a fag factory.
If you are looking for a free donor, then try the free ad papers(like Loot in london etc...) put an ad in the wanted section, along the lines of:
'WANTED Free or cheap as possible: Ford Sierra for kit car, MOT failures considered, MUST RUN....' etc etc
Two things to remember here:
1, No tax and No MOT = worthless on the age of car you will be looking at for a donor....
2, If they start muttering about 'Just give me scrap value' then point out to them that these days most scrappies charge money to take
scrap cars, so scrap value really equates to them giving you the car and cash from £30 - £60.
Usually shuts them up....

Don't tell 'em its for a kit build...
.. because then you won't be able to knock them down on price when you see that great gaping rust hole in the nearside sill! Say you're
after a cheap runabout to get the kids to school and this is all you can afford. You're hoping to do it up and you just got a Haynes manual off
your (disabled) father in law so it has to be a Sierra.
My DOHC donor was free. This is because where I live the scrappys charge you to get rid of your old tin (in my case, £60 for the shell!). Just keep a
lookout in the local free-adds rag. You'll find one eventually. The previous owner was a family man and his young kids didn't want to see
the poor old thing go, but there it was, already replaced (by a Rover 214!) and no MOT & tax. I was looking for an injection model but I could not
resist at that price..
Speaking of the scrappy, he knows I'm building a kit and thinks I'm rich. Tried to charge me £50 for a Sierra pedal box! He wonders why
I've never bought a single part from him (although I've been there quite a few times).
Sometimes I wish I lived up North... They give Ford parts away free with boxes of Cornflakes, or so I heard.
Good luck. Patience is the key.
