another "complicated" registration related question
I am currently finishing off the strip-down of my mk2 'scort. I ultimately want to use the 'scort for a donar and have taken
piccy's all along the way incase there is a problem with DVLA/SVA later.
But recently it dawned on me that I changed the engine as the old one has flattened out its big ends!!! I never got around to telling DVLA as it was
a temporary measure. Since then I have moved to France and this is where I am planning on building the locost.
I did tell DVLA that the car is permanently exported and now I am wondering if this will cause problems opn
a) the engine number is no longer the same capacity nor the same id number.
b) the car is registered as permanently exported!
Anyone know if this is likely to cause issues?
Plus, is there anything I need to be doing to get a chassis number or do I wait until the build is near completion? If so, what do I do about getting
a number etc?
Thanks in advance for replies and sorry for so many questions but I feel these need to be resolved before I can get on with the build...

PS On completion I imagine it will be difficult to persuade an insurance company to let me drive it to the UK for its first SVA!!!

cant see any problem getting the car registered with the engine swap at all (if you are happy with a Q-plate) as you just need to give the DVLA the
new engine number when it gets to that stage of registering your kit.
Only issue you may have is if you go for an age related plate. I got mine on the 1977 P-plate by sending my V5 back to the DVLA with the Mondeo engine
number so it all tied in when it came to paperwork time - claimed the engine, box and rear axle / brakes to give me the points

Andy, provided you have the V5 and are going for an age related plate, it shouldn't be a problem. You'll get enough points using the
running gear, to qualify for an age related plate, irrespective of what engine you use.
If you don't mind a Q plate, it doesn't matter what or where your donor parts come from.
With regards to the chassis number, the best advice would be to ring the local DVLA where you intend to get it registered and see what hoops they want
you to jump through.

If you have exported the car then you will very likely have a problem seeing as the SVA is for UK residents only and using a donor thats been exported
is a bit of a giveaway and my understanding is that they are getting tighter on this.

My donor was a 2.0 DOHC sierra withknackered engine. I fitted Pinto. Didnt swap engine over on log book. I told DVLA when they did home visit, they
said dont worry. Engines get swapped all the time, if i didnt know the new engine details they could leave that bit blank on the logbook. They were
more concerned that the chassis and reciepts etc were all correct. This is probs why BEC builders get away with registering on age related plates.
