anyone know what size the lsd is off a 4x4 sierra?? 7 or 7.5?
also, anyone know what type of lsd it is, viscous or clutch?
and how do I tell if its worn?

Mine is 7" but I believe there are 7.5" types too, especially on Granadas. Usual Ford lottery - check before you buy!

cheers chris, its a sierra some I'm guessing 7. Think I've got enough room in the velocity chassis for a 7.5 anyway - I've padded
the standard diff I've got with a few fat washers anyway.
any ideas what type of lsd they use? and how to tell if worn??

they're viscous, and there's a procedure in the haynes manual for testing the diff. I don't have it handy for the figures I'm
afraid, the procedure is something like jack one side of the back of the car, take the wheel off, try and spin the hub with a torque wrench; with some
amount of torque (forget, sorry) it should complete (half?) a turn in some number of seconds.
I am back home tomorrow and can look up the number if you need them.

The only sierra to have a 7.5" diff was the 2WD cosworth all the rest had 7" diffs.
