Maybe not this one, but the general idea of paying quite a bit more and getting a donor with lots of good, usable stuff in it is a good one.
One possibilty for a one-off would be a TR7V8, an enterprising chap could use virtually all the running gear and power unit in one of those

Maybe you could get a few hundred quid knocked off for the missing headlight.
