why bother looking for something different?
Mk2 Escort are cheap, light reliable, and available in loads of ratios from Rallydesign for next to nothing.

If you’re replacing an Escort rack with a Nova take care. I am not familiar with the Escort rack. I do know I replaced a Cortina rack with a Nova
rack. The problem was the location of the pinion. Top or bottom of the rack. I found once I had fitted the Nova rack when I steered right the car went
left! NOT IDEAL!

i know why that is, the sierra steering rack steers from the front and the nove from the rear, i will have to have a look when the rack comes, if i
need to play about with the rack and save 70 pound its worth it,

That’s right. After some head scratching I worked it out.
How about a Left hand drive Nova? eBay Germany?

The book says you've got to add something to the rack to make it fit, and looking at the pictures I can't make head nor tail of what
he's going on about to add 14mm or so.. Surely there's one out there that just fits?

Yeah some of the jigs in the book are quite detailed apart from one measurement. And it will be an important one cos now I have to work out the height
off a 10 degree angle which I won't be able to do until I build it then I won't need the jig...
