4x4 donor
My orginal plan was to use all the good parts from my talbot (live axle). Since my original thoughts ive been offered a 4x4 sierra at good money.
Its a twin cam 2 litre 4x4 with 130 bhp . Is this car a suitable donor. Is a 4x4 locost feasible?? or im i just confusing myself. I had wanted to
make life simple ......i dont know if either of these options are that!!! Can a 4x4 be made (almost) as easily? Im not intrested in knowing about
the obvious "extras".---- just problems!(such as space and driveshaft problems).
Do the 4x4 hubs go on to the locost wishbones no problem and is there space in the front of the car to house the "extra works"
Sorry for all the questions. Im a novice trying to make the best initial plans i can. Somone must have a 4x4 out there!???? Thanks guys.

if you want simple buy a std sierra and a kit - others on here are doing 4 x 4 but its not the easy route

yup, as steve says some are doing it. the main issues are getting the front diff moved forward, and widening the transmission tunnel to fit the middle
diff and forward prop.
plus 2ltr isnt too spectacular, if i personally was to bother with the 4x4 option i would use a v6 engine with it. IMHO obviously!
is the twin cam one of the taller engines or is that another one?

Robin,
If you want it simple get a MK3/4/5 Cortina and go from there.
The more you deviate from the book the longer it takes and harder it gets.
You can do a 2wd IRS/De Dion using a Sierra donor and you could use your 4WD donor and then you'll get LSD for the back.
And finally if you wanna make it harder still do a 4WD system.
HTH,
James
