Engine/gearbox for book chassis

Does anybody have any suggestions for what donor I should look at for engine and gearbox? The requirements are

  1. Should have cat (basicly any post 1989 engine would do)
  2. Should be in-line
  3. Should come with siutable gearbox (I'm nog a good (or even average) mechanic so I'm hoping to get a finished package)
  4. Should fit under the hood of a book chassis (no bumps, holes et.c.)

I'm using a Mazda MX5/Eunos engine. It fits all the criteria you have mentioned but one.

I think I am going to need a bulge in the bonnet to get over the engine. It's about 1" too tall and I have already removed 1" from the sump (no way to get more out).

See my picture archive.

Hi

The very last 1.6 Sierra's used the cvh engine with efi and a cat, or you could fit a rover K with a chaterham box?

Hope this helps
