don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I just chopped it up with an angry grinder (keeping the VIN plates) and dropped it in the appropriate bins at the local tip.....

Cut the number out of the floor and remove the vin plate. Advertise it in the local paper for banger racing or tap one of the transit pickup drivers
scrap men to take it.
Or, as said there cut it up into bits and weigh it in yourself!

The 3 body shells I've scrapped I've taken there myself and got anywhere between £30-50 scrap value for them (lob in any old steel weels
and other extra weight you can to up the value ;-) ) - but then having access to a trailer makes things simpler.
Otherwise, cut up into bite sized chunks and either dispose at the local amenity tip or weigh in at the scrap merchant.

I did the same with an old mini I was robbing stuff off when I restored my eldest son's first car. Took me a couple of days with a cold chisel
and Mr Angry but the stress relief was enormous!
Simply loaded up the estate car I had a the time and took it all down the recycling centre. Didn't half get some funny looks when I started
unloading it all though
It looks like the Midget is winning at the moment......

You are looking for Scrap metal merchants and not car breakers?
I have just had a Galant we used in a recent race (no interior etc) taken away for nought by one local firm.
Another local firm gave a friend £75 for a 306 he took down there on the back of his work truck.
Most seem to advertise £60 a tonne, excluding wheels and tyres.
So there is money in it.

I did that, until Mr Jobsworth at the local tip accused me of stealing cars and ringing them, (I had the V5 and receipt.) and started a big argument
with me about the legalities of what i was doing.
Its not very often I get irate, but that was one of those moments, I think my rant was mainly about how much I enjoyed paying so much council tax just
so I could be hurled abuse at by some work shy moron who couldnt tell the difference between a 'rung' car and his elbow anyway. My friend
Paul seemed to find it rather amusing though so at least one of us was laughing.
I got a bit victor meldrew that day, anyhow, in the end I took the rest to a local scrap yard and they didnt bat an eyelid and gave me a tenner for it
which just about paid for the evenings beer.

Shame your not just tha little bit closer to Gosport
Our place is paying £50 a car if we have to collect and £75 if its brought in
(though not sure what the score is with just bare shells)
Will have a word with our driver, but I'm pretty sure you are over our border that we cover
Surprised you can't find anyone to take it for free as a worst case scenario
Regards
Rob

The scrap guys don't collect bare shells - they don't weigh enough for it to be worth their while. They charge about £40 around here to
collect.
As the other guys have said, cut it up with the angry grinder - BE CAREFUL ! then trailer / car boot it, glass 'n all to the weigh in - I got
£9.70 for my sierra ( I think its called Depreciation ! )

Just had same problem gettin rid of my donor BMW, if it was rolling then it would have gone for free, but because it needed Hiab'in on then it
cost £20 Purely because scrap value has dipped of late.
I would have liked to have cut it up myself but it was starting to look a bit of an eyesore and just wanted rid asap. (well the mrs did!!)
