SVA cert is taken off you when you register it.

Check on the V5 what the date of first registration is. I had the "you need an MOT" on my tax disc reminder, and just went into the PO with the V5 and told them it was less than 3 years old. They checked something on their system and gave me the tax disc without a MOT.

A couple of people have had the date of first registration incorrectly put as the date of the donor's first registration, though...

you wont have the sva certificate, as this was handed in when the car was registered

I taxed mine yesterday at the postoffice.
Their computer said needs MOT, but I pointed out that the car was registered in 08 so not three years old. Then got my tax without mot certificate.

I just did it with the V5 not the reminder though.
If the reminder says MOT needed it may be worth going with V5 rather than reminder, as that would just be asking for trouble.

I was in the exact same position as you last week mate As well as the car passing sva last year.
So the reminder says MOT needed BUT no mention of insurance I suppose??
I did mines online absolutely no questions asked ( well not that I'm finally on the M.I.D LOL)
So if their computer allows you to tax online ergo you don't need an MOT IMHO

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Same here, although my local post office wouldn't issue it with the MOT bit on it. I went to main DVLA office in town. They took it away, then came back to the desk and issued my Tax. Job done.........
