Duratec& gearbox

Hi all,
I'm planning to build an MNR Vortx RT based on a Duratec engine but I don't know whether I keep a traditional way and use the T9 box or go for an MX5 6 speed gearbox.

Any help would be appreciated.
rgds,
Peter

Hi Peter

The MX5 box pattern is set, so that the engine leans very slightly to one side... not a big deal, but you will have to modify any 'normal' Duratec engine mounts to suit.

Other than that, it seems to be a very highly rated box by those in the know... 6-speed, slick-change, 45kg (has integrated bellhousing, but still a bit heavier than the Type 9) and can handle a fair bit of power.

I would say it's worth-it!

PS - Did those bits arrive?

I'd also compare their ratios
you can always upgrade N9 with aftermarket gear kit, not sure about mx5
